4th August, 2019 Beachy Head and Newhaven Harbour. Overcast warm and humid. ESE 1 vearing to SW 1-2

What a difference a day makes. With ESE winds, we were hoping for another good fall of night migrants, but although some migrants were left over from yesterday, things were much quieter this morning. We covered the same sites as yesterday and met up with RE who covered several sites around Birling area and then covered Whitbread Hollow area. LP also covered Shooters Bottom and the Beachy Head pub area.

Just 2 Sedge Warblers were seen today.

On the drive to Newhaven Harbour, a Hobby flew very close to our car whilst waiting to cross the Cuckmere road bridge.
At Newhaven Harbour with the tide approx. half way out. The usual selection of Herring gulls but no sign of any Yellow-legged Gulls. Two adult Lesser  Black Back Gulls of the English race graellsii,, small numbers of Black-headed Gulls including 1 juvenile and a single adult Sandwich Tern. (shame it wasn't a Gull-billed Tern).
