6th July, 2015 Beachy Head and Newhaven Fine sunny and warm SSW 3-4

Covered all the main sites on the Headland with the highlights being 4 Crossbills W and 12 Mediterranean Gulls E. On our way home, we called in to Newhaven but no sign of any juv. Yellow-legged Gulls although 1 adult Mediterranean Gull on the beach.

Also good numbers of common downland butterflies seen including 50 Marbled Whites, 10 Small Skippers, 2 Dark Green Fritillaries, 1 Red Admiral.

Newhaven Harbour: No sign of any juv. Yellow-legged Gulls on the beach but 1 adult Mediterranean Gull and 1 Sandwich Tern with Herring Gulls on the beach.

A second visit to Newhaven Harbour this evening in bright evening light with the tide going out produced the following:
Lesser-black back Gull 2 Juvs
Mediterranean Gull 1 adult and 1 1stS.
Yellow-legged Gull 1 Juv flew in stayed for around 10 minutes and then departed.
