19th February, 2014 Widewater, Littlehampton and Barnham

No sign of the Glaucous Gull at the fish shop at Shoreham harbour, we moved onto Widewater where good views of the 3 red-headed Goosanders and 2 Red-breasted Mergansers plus the usual Little Grebes. A brief look on the sea, but very quiet.

We then visited Littlehampton river mouth where the juvenile Kumlien's Gull was showing very well and the 2nd Yr. Glaucous Gull was also present but too far away to photograph. A summer plumage Mediterranean Gull was also present.

Driving to Chichester, we passed through Barnham where large numbers of Black-headed Gulls were present on the flood and at least 10 Little Gulls including 1 juv. were also present, and a adult Kittiwake was a surprise flying over the fields that far inland.

With the on-set of rain, we drove along the Arundel brooks but no sign of any Bewicks although 5 Egyptian Geese were seen.
