11 May, 2011:

Clear with a cold north east wind force 4. Walked West Beach to the Point, Tilden's wood, and thenback to the Point and Post Woods. Made an evening visit to Pelee Wings to twitch a Dickcissel before a brief look at Hillman's marsh. John & Doreen were both feeling tired today and decided to have a rest during the morning and birded along Lake Erie during the afternoon but went out with David in the evening.

Doreen and myself were both feeling very tired and felt it would be best if we had a restful day in and around the cottage. David and Brenda went to Point Pelee as planned. Doreen and myself were able to visit Hillman's marsh and to twitch the Dickcissel with David during the evening.

Awoke to foggy but calm conditions. We walked West Beach to the Point and then a stormy shower made us return to the Visitors Centre where we told about a Bell's Vireo near the shelter at the Point so we quickly made our way back to see it. We then tried Northwest Beach. We made an evening visit to Hillman's marsh where a considerable number and variety of warbler species were found in the evening sunlight including a splendid Cerulean Warbler.

20th May, 2011:

Our final full day. Awoke to a foggy morning but became sunny and hot by mid-day, when a small passage of raptors occured over the Visitors Centre. We first visited the Point and after a short raptor watch from the Visitors Centre we walked Tilden's Wood and Shusters trial. We the visited Hillman's marsh where we were told about 2 Red Necked Phalaropes which were on a small pool at Leamington which we quickly visited. Our final birding was to Wheatley Harbour in the evening.
