4th July, 2011. Marl Post, Southwater. Fine & sunny

Doreen and myself visited Marl Post today to look for butterflies. Not to much bramble in flower and the thistle heads were very poor and therefore butterfly numbers were low:

Good numbers of Meadow Browns, 25 Silver Washed Fritillaries, 10 Ringlets, only 1 White Admiral and only seen in flight, 1 Red Admiral, 3 Commas, 1Red Admiral, 1 Green Veined White, 1 Brimstone, 1 Small Copper, plus numbers of Small and Large Whites and Small & Large Skippers. Sadly no sign of any Purple Emperors.
