12th February, 2019 Beachy Head Overcast, cold SW 3

We sea-watched from 07.25-09.10 with another busy sea-watch, with most of the birds moving E.  The highlight being a Puffin leading a flock of 40 Razorbills. Good flock of 200 Common Gulls flew out to sea from Birling and our first Mediterranean Gull for the year probably heading for Rye. We then covered Belle Tout wood, Old Trapping Area and Hotel Garden but little of interest seen.

Great-crested Grebe  3 (2 on sea and 1 E)
Gannet 30 E
Common Scoter 1 E
Mediterranean Gull 1 ad w/p E (our first for this year)
Common Gull 200 Birling flew out to sea
Kittiwake 55 E
Auk Sp. 2,023 E (Majority i/d were Razorbills)
Puffin  1 w/p E @ 08.50 leading a party of Razorbills (JFC, DRC)
Meadow Pipit party of 9 along the road
Rock Pipit 1 Birling
Song Thrush 1 singing Hotel Garden
Goldfinch 8
