9th July, 2018 Beachy Head Hot and sunny N 1

Another early visit, but only stayed  a couple of hours. We visited Birling lane, Birling scrub, Shooters Bottom and the Old Trapping Area. No sign of any overhead migration and just a few warblers seen in the bushes. No sign or sound of the Nightingale seen on our last visit.
Large numbers of common butterflies were also seen.

On our way home we called into West Rise Marsh in the hope of seeing Lesser Emperor dragonfly but unfortunately no sign of any Lessers although we did see around 10 Emperor Dragonflies several Black-tailed Skimmers and a number of damselflies

Yesterday evening Doreen and myself had a Hummingbird Hawk Moth feeding on our buddleia bush.
