6th March, 2018 Beachy Head Overcast with odd showers. SW 1

Another fairly eventful sea-watch for early March. We sea-watched from 06.30-08.30 with another reasonable passage of Red-throated Divers with again 1 Black-throated Diver which was identical to yesterday's bird as it was in partial summer plumage. Did manage some good views of its feet which were distinctly larger than the Red-throated Divers along side it. Also seen our first Sandwich Tern of the year and a nice passage of Mediterranean Gulls.
We then covered the Birling loop, Belle Tout wood and the set-a-side field, but very little seen.

Red-throated Diver 90 (82E and 8 on the sea)
Black-throated Diver 1 E with 5 RTD's (In appearance almost the same as yesterday's bird being in partial s/p).
Great-crested Grebe 10 (2 E and 8 on the sea)
Gannet 2 E
Brent Goose 44 E
Teal 1 E
Common Scoter 4 E
Mediterranean Gull 18 E (1 ad w/p and 17 ad s/p)
Kittiwake 24 E (including 5 still in juvenile plumage).
Sandwich Tern 1 E (an early date for Beachy Head)
Skylark 25 in set-a-side field
Meadow Pipit 4
Stonechat 1
Goldfinch 8 in set-a-side field
Corn Bunting 5 in set-a-side field (several holding territory).
