2nd September, 2019 Beachy Head. Cold early morning becoming sunny and warm W 1 increasing to 3.

We covered Shooters Bottom, Birling lane, Cornish Farm lane, Old Trapping Area, radio mast bushes, Hotel Garden and Icky Ridge. RE and MB were ringing in Whitbread Hollow, LP covered the radio mast bushes to Shooters Bottom and back, AR covered Cow Gap area and above Whitbread Hollow and RB covered sites on the Headland including Shooters Bottom.
No sign of the Wryneck this morning, but a few new arrivals including our first Firecrest of the Autumn, singles of Spotted Flycatcher and Redstart and with good numbers of Blackcaps in the Hollow which kept the two ringers very occupied. Again very little in the way of diurnal migration but our first flock of 80 Meadow Pipits in a field at Birling.
