A dismal morning both on the weather and bird fronts. We covered Birling lane and scrub opposite, Shooters Bottom, Old Trapping Area, and Hotel Garden. No sign of any new migrants with 1 Grey Wagtail W and 6 Swifts. Common Whitethroats with just 14 seen, and a Blackcap was singing in Shooters Bottom. A Nightingale was again heard croaking in Whitbread Hollow by LP.
Owing to the dismal weather no butterflies were seen.
Yesterday Bob heard 1-2 Nightingales in Whitbread Hollow and trapped and ringed an adult female Nightingale. (an excellent start to this season's ringing season in the Hollow).
