14 May 2014 Littlehampton and Kithurst Hill

Our first stop was at Littlehampton in the hope of seeing the juvenile Kumlien's Gull to see how it has changed since we last saw it on the 19 February. Unfortunately, it was resting on the harbour breakwater and looking directly into bright sunlight. Although we spent an hour with it, it stayed all the time on the breakwater although it did fly towards us for a few yards before settling back down.

At Kithurst Hill, a nice selection of butterflies including 2 Duke of Burgundy Fritillaries, 2 Small Blues, Green Hairstreak, several Brimstones, Dingy Skippers, Orange Tips.
