13th October, 2012 Saturday Hegura Day 15

Another fine sunny morning which lasted all day, with just a light NW breeze. Had an excellent pre-breakfast walk. Along the Central Track we obtained good views of 4 Japanese Grey Thrushes including a fine adult male, but the highlight was an Eastern Water Rail walking right out in the open on the track. During the day, good numbers of Elegant Buntings with 25 being seen also 2 Yellow-browed Warblers and our first Pallas's Leaf Warbler of the trip, 5 Whooper Swans flew over the Island moving South, and during the late afternoon a fall of 20 Rustic Buntings on the school field.
