12th October, 2012 Friday Hegura Day 14

Cool early morning with a light NW wind. Cloudy during the morning, becoming sunny and warm late morning and then cloudy and cooler during the afternoon. Out by 5.35 for the usual pre-breakfast walk to the Dragons Pool. A number of new migrants seen during the day with the highlights being finding a Gray's Grasshopper Warbler coming into the drinking pool and showing well. A fall of at least 12 Elegant Buntings including several fine male birds, a Red-breasted Flycatcher at the North Cape which had just arrived in off the sea and a rarity in Japan. Another decent fall of Daurian Redstarts and Asian Goldcrests many looking very tired and fed on the ground at our feet.
