8th October, 2018 Beachy Head Overcast, sunny periods, mild NW-W 1 increasing to 2-3

With good numbers of Yellow-browed warblers etc. along the east coast yesterday afternoon, our hopes were high but unfortunately no sign of any at Beachy this morning. We met up with RKH and RB and covered Birling lane, Shooters Bottom, Old Trapping Area, Toilet block bushes, Hotel Garden and Belle Tout wood. MM also covered Birling lane, Belle Tout wood and then walked inland covering the downs around Long Down and CB also covered Holywell. RE was ringing in Whitbread Hollow.
A reasonable fall of Chiffchaffs but otherwise just low numbers of Blackcaps and our first Redwings of the Autumn. Very little seen on overhead migration.
