19th June, 2018 Church Norton

With the news breaking at around 7.00 pm that the North American Royal Tern was showing on Tern Island off Church Norton, and thanks to DC for the telephone call, I quickly contacted JK who in turn contacted RJF and we quickly met up and drove to Church Norton arriving around 08.00 pm. It was showing virtually continuously on Tern Island with Sandwich and Little Terns and several Mediterranean Gulls. Good scope views but to far away for any pics. It made a couple of short flights.
It was ringed and was considered to be the bird present on the Channel Islands for most of this year.
