30th March, 2018 Beachy Head Overcast with heavy rain from 10.00am cold ESE 2-3

We sea-watched from 06.25-10.15 and was joined by KG. RE visited Birling Lane, Birling loop and Belle Tout wood and we had a break from sea-watching and we covered Belle Tout wood, Shooters Bottom and the Old Trapping Area at 08.30 leaving KG still watching. We returned to Birling at 10.00 but by 10.15 heavy rain had commenced.
Good numbers of Common Scoters were moving, with 3 Arctic Skuas and a Bonxie. Whilst we were away Kris picked out a 2ndcy. Caspian Gull at approx. 09.25 which moved E along the cliffs which proved to be the first record for Beachy Head. Good timing by ourselves as we were covering the sites. The bushes were very quiet with just the odd migrant being seen which included a female type Black Redstart in the Belle Tout car park.
