4th November, 2020 Beachy Head Early morning frost, calm and sunny N 1-2

RE  covered Birling Gap and lane, Birling to Belle Tout loop. and SL spent four hours from 08.30 to 12.30 where he covered Birling area, Belle Tout wood, Went Hill, Michel Dene, Shooters Bottom and the Old Trapping Area. RB also covered a number of sites on the Headland. Just the odd common migrants were seen with a flight of Wood Pigeons and Stock Doves and small numbers of finches, and hirundines also moving. Highlights included a Ring Ouzel and 3-4 Dartford Warblers. An interesting Falcon was found by SL sitting on a pole near the cliff edge at the top of Birling lane, and it probably related to a falconers hybrid, or Lanner Falcon.  

Sparrow Hawk 1, Common Buzzard 1, Kestrel 1, Stock Dove 50 E, Wood Pigeon 350 E, Wood Lark 1 E over Went Hill @ 10.30 (SL), Swallow 12, House Martin 8,  Pied Wagtail 5, Rock Pipit 1, Ring Ouzel 1 in Shooters Bottom, Party of 4 Stonechats, Blackcap 1 male, 3+ Dartford Warblers, Chiffchaff 2, Goldfinch 150, Lesser Redpoll 6 chiefly heard, Siskin 10 chiefly heard, Raven 2, Corn Bunting 3. 

KH also visited the Headland and recorded Black Redstart, Redwing, Dartford Warbler, Firecrest and a Ring Ouzel

Falcon (probable hybrid or Lanner type Falcon) at Birling lane, 
with spotted underparts and brownish cap, it appears to be 
wearing a jess on its right leg.
