Monday 19 October 2020

19th October, 2020 Cloudy becoming sunny periods N to SW 2-3 increasing to 4-5.

We covered most of the sites on the Headland excluding Birling lane. Number of other birders were also covering the Headland sites and RJF spent 8 hours and covered most sites including Crowlink  but did not cover Cow Gap.    Yet another disappointing day with just a few common migrants present and no visible diurnal migration noted.  One surprise was a Little Bunting briefly seen in Shooters Bottom.

Combined totals: Sparrow Hawk 3, Common Buzzard 2 +, Kestrel 1, Green Woodpecker 2, Swallow 3, House |Martin 1, Pied Wagtail 21, Stonechat 26 (Whole area), Ring Ouzel 1 (radio mast bushes), Dartford Warbler 1 Blackcap 3, Chiffchaff 12, Goldcrest 15, Jay 1, Raven 4, Little Bunting 1 Shooters Bottom) (RJF).
