10th August, 2018 Beachy Head Early morning heavy rain becoming sunny. W 1 increasing 6

As we left Burgess Hill it looked a fine calm morning. Heavy rain from Lewes to Seaford, arrived at Beachy to overcast conditions with very wet roads and still calm. We first visited Shooters Bottom where small numbers of warblers were very active and may have dropped in after the heavy rain had stopped. As we walked through Shooters activity soon dropped off and unfortunately the wind now increased.
We then covered the bushes near the toilet block, Hotel Garden and Icky Ridge, Old Trapping Area and Belle Tout scrub and wood. The wind had now increased to a force 6 so we decided on a brief sea-watch but no sign of any Shearwaters.
RE covered the Hollow, Francis Bottom (very windy) and Belle Tout wood after the rain had stopped.
A small arrival of common migrants which included 2 Pied Flycatchers, and 1 Hobby but no sign of any diurnal migration. A juvenile Yellow-legged Gull drifted W above the cliffs.
