7th April, 2017 Beachy Head Fine sunny and warm with a light variable wind

Unfortunately no sign of the male Blue Rock Thrush this morning which was last seen at dusk last night. We met up with RE at Birling. We covered the Old Trapping Area, Hotel Garden, Icky Ridge, The Cliff Path, Shooters Bottom and Belle Tout wood. RE covered the Birling Loop, Belle Tout wood and Shooters Bottom. LP was birding in the Whitbread Hollow area.
Generally the area was very quiet

Dark-edge Bee-Fly (Bombylius major) 1 along the Cliff Path

Late news for earlier in the week was a male Pied Flycatcher seen at Hodcombe by Roger and Liz.

Song Thrush-more birds appear to be holding territory
than the last few years.

Tawny Owl of the rufous coloured phase 

Dark-edge Bee-Fly along the cliff path. I cannot recall seeing this
species of Bee-Fly at Beachy before, although other observers
may have done.
