Thursday 30 March 2017

30th March, 2017 Beachy Head Part overcast becoming sunny S-SW 2-4 becoming SSE 1 in afternoon.

RE visited the Headland this morning and did a 30 minute sea-watch before covering Birling lane, and the Birling loop. We were unable to visit this morning due to hospital appointment but with the wind veering to light SE we sea-watch from 16.00-17.30 in beautiful warm sunny weather which was a nice way to relax after our hospital visit which tends to be quite stressful these days. Unfortunately the SE breeze hadn't kick-started any late movement.

Combined totals of both visits:

Red-throated Diver 4 (3 E and 1 on the sea)
Gannet 8 E
Brent Goose 8 E
Shelduck 1 pair prospecting near Belle Tout
Gadwall 2 E (per GG)
Common Scoter 13 E
Mediterranean Gull 2 ad s/p E
Black-headed Gull 14 E
Sandwich Tern 7 E
Firecrest 1 at Birling (perRE)
