18th June, 2016 Beachy Head overcast dry N 1-2

A frustrating day trying to catch up with the Serins. Roger and Liz had 4 including 2 males,  in their garden last night while Laurence had 2 in Shooters Bottom also 2 Cuckoos.
Laurence had one early this morning in Shooters and also feeding along the road edge, but it had just flown off before I arrived. No further sign all morning and I worked the garden with RHC and no sign of any Serins there. They may very well be feeding out in the fields close by and may return this evening to roost.
There were 1-2 Quail singing occasionally during the day and a fine adult male Redstart was also seen which may very well have been a failed breeding bird. Also several large parties of Swifts totaling around 300 mainly moving east.
