24th October, 2015 Beachy Head and Southease Overcast, mild WSW 3 increasing to 4

We covered most of the usual sites on the headland including the Cliff Path but didn't cover the Birling loop or Shooters Bottom. Very few migrants present and not a single warbler was seen during our visit. Highlights were 2 Short-eared Owls moving east high over the top fields.

Kestrel 3
Merlin 1 female type first seen over Birling and then chasing Goldfinches opposite Belle Tout wood.
Short-eared Owl 2 high E over top fields (1 @ 10.10 and 1 @ 11.10)
Swallow 7
Pied Wagtail 6 W
Robin 5
Wheatear 1
Goldcrest 10
Firecrest 1
Raven 1
Goldfinch 50

On our way home, we called into Southease where we spent about 40 minutes looking from the bridge. No sign of the Osprey during our visit but a Great-grey Shrike was present along the river bank.

Perhaps our last Wheatear of the year, present along the Cliff Path.
