23rd July, 2015 Beachy Head Fine, Sunny cool at first becoming warm W 1 increasing to 2-3

Beautiful early Autumnal morning, and we covered nearly all the main sites on the Headland. Just the odd night migrants seen and only a small diurnal passage logged.

Swift 10 coasted W
Great-spotted Woodpecker 1
Sand Martin 28 coasted W
Swallow 6
Stonechat 15
Song Thrush 2
Common Whitethroat 21
Blackcap 1 singing
Willow Warbler 2

Linnet 50
Corn Bunting 4 (including at least 1 juv.)

Still good numbers of downland butterflies with many Small Skippers, Gatekeepers, Meadow Browns. Still 50 Marbled Whites, 2-3 Essex Skippers identified, 1 Small Copper, 2 Painted Ladies, 15 Chalkhill Blues, 5 Dark Green Fritillaries.
