5th April, 2015 Beachy Head

On our car journey to Beachy we had views of a Barn Owl near Offham and stopping in the Cuckmere Valley the Great Grey Shrike was showing distantly, a Blackcap singing and 2 Egyptian Geese.

We tried two sea-watches at Beachy the first in overcast but clear conditions with a NE 1 wind, between 07.00-07.35 but very little logged and the second sea-watch from 09.55-10.50 in sunny conditions at first becoming overcast and cool with a NE-E 3, which was marginally better. We also covered Birling lane and Birling to Belle Tout loop including Belle Tout wood. The walk was almost bird-less although several Swallows arrived and 5 Wheatears were seen.
