14th January, 2014 Scotney, Dungeness area and Pett Level

Lovely fine sunny winter's day and Doreen and myself decided a day trip to the Dungeness area for a change of scenery:

Scotney Gravel Pit:
Long-tailed Duck 1 drake strangely stood on one of the grassy spits and when it walked appeared to have a damage leg.
Marsh Harrier 1

Dungeness area:
Marsh Harrier 5
Tundra Bean Geese 2 from the entrance track
Great White Egret a  minimum of 5 including 3 in view at the same time.
Little Egret 3
Smew 2 redheads on the ARC pit
Black-throated Diver 2 on the New Diggins
6 Tree Sparrows
Plus good numbers of common ducks etc.

Pett Level:
Very quiet over the marsh, with just 2 Peregrines, and also out to sea with just a few grebes.

Great White Egret showing well along the entrance track.

Two Black-throated Divers taken looking directly into the sun on
the New Diggins gravel pit.

Red headed Smew on ARC

Great White Egret looking directly into the sun on the ARC.

Great White Egret - At least 5 different birds seen today.
