27th December, 2013 Old Lodge, Ashdown Forest.

Since my posting on the 20th December and our subsequent visits, David and myself have now carefully compared our various images taken at Old Lodge, with images of Parrot Crossbills appearing on the internet and in various published ornithological papers, and also David's sonograms which he obtained yesterday afternoon, and we are now satisfied that a party of 9 Parrot Crossbills including at least 6 adult male birds together with a number of Common Crossbills are present at the Old Lodge Nature Reserve.
I attach some of the images which I took on the 20th, and full details with more images and sonograms can be seen on David's blog here: http://eastsussexbirding.blogspot.co.uk/
