15th October, 2012 Monday Hegura Day 17

A cooler morning with a strong NW breeze which persisted all day, but otherwise fine and sunny. Our early morning walk was quiet on the bird front. After breakfast with our usual cold eggs, we birded the Tsukasa fields with the highlight being a 1stW. Chinese Grosebeak, a new lifer for me, 3 Yellow-browed Warblers were still present and yet another good arrival of at least 60 Daurian Redstarts, and 50 Elegant Buntings. A surprise was a Long-eared Owl which arrived in off the sea and the Japanese Buzzard was still on site. A Carrion Crow which was a tick trip was first seen on our early morning walk and then later we had it leaving South over the harbour heading towards the mainland.
