1st January 2010 Bodiam Castle, Dungeness and Pett

Another New Year, 2010, and went out with David & Doreen over to Bodiam Castle and then onto Welland Marsh, Dungeness, Scotney and Pett Level.
Black Necked Grebe showing very well on the moat at Bodiam Castle and spent an enjoyable 2 hours watching and photographing it from close range. 54 Berwick Swans seen on Welland Marsh with the usual selection of Golden Plovers etc. 4 Marsh Harriers seen during the day, and 2 Red Legged Partridges on the marsh. A Slavonian Grebe showed well on the New Diggins at Dungeness and 2 Tree Sparrows were a useful year tick along the entrance track. Not to many duck seen at Dungeness, 2 Smew (1 drake), 3 Goosanders (1 drake), 5 Ruddy Ducks.

Late afternoon,we quickly visited Scotney, but only 30 Barnacles and then onto Pett Levels for some waders and 5 White Fronted Geese.
