19th July, 2019 Beachy Head and Newhaven Harbour Overcast with rain from 08.30 Wind W 1 increasing to 3

Just a short visit until the rain started around 08.30 and with the wind increasing. We covered Birling lane, Birling scrub, Shooters Bottom and the Old Trapping Area. RE was ringing in Whitbread Hollow but for a short period until the rain started. Very few migrants seen with 4 Reed Warblers in the Hollow were the best.

We stopped off at Newhaven Harbour on our way home, but still raining with the tide on the way out. Fair numbers of Gulls present on the beach which included 2 juvenile Yellow-legged Gulls, 25 juvenile Herring Gulls with around 30 other Herring Gulls, and 25 adult Black-headed Gulls.
