Went up onto the Downs with Doreen & Terry to photograph the Lady Orchid.

22nd May, 2004 Downs above Amberley

Visited the Downs above Amberley again with Doreen & David. Saw 1 Duke of Burgundy Fritillary, also about 10 Little Blues, 2 Green Hairstreaks, 6 Dingy Skippers, 4 Orange Tips, 4 Common Blues, 1 Holly Blue, 1 Brimstone plus Speckled Woods & Small Whites.

20th May, 2010. Downs above Amberley

Visited the Downs above Amberley with Doreen. Nice selection of butterflies but unable to locate the Duke of Burgundy Fritillary. Butterlies seen: 1 Green Hairstreak, 3 Little Blues, 1 Common Blue, 2 Peacocks, 12 Dingy Skippers, 1 Brimstone, Speckled Woods & Small Whites.

Also 3 Common Buzzards.

18th May, 2010 Abbots Wood.

Doreen and myself went to Abbots Wood. The bluebells were superb and had 2-3 Nightingales singing and 1 Cuckoo. Also 7 + Pearl-bordered Fritillaries.

16 May, 2010 Pulborough

Visited Pulborough with Doreen but didn't see a single wader. 1 Garden Warbler singing out in the open and 2 Nightingales also singing, & 4 Little Egrets. Otherwise just Whitethroats, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, Swifts & 2 Long Tailed Tits. Also 2 Orange Tip Butterflies.

11th May 2010 Arlington Reservoir


Early morning visit with David to Arlington Reservoir. As we were leaving our estate, a Hobby flew over Kinsway.
The following birds were seen at Arlington Reservoir:
2 Red Rumped Swallows, 30 Swallows, 30 House Martins, 10 Sand Martins and a Cuckoo was calling.

3rd May 2010 Chailey Common & Weirwood Reservoir

First went to Chailey Common with Doreen & David. No sign of any Dartfords but we did see the following: 1 Common Buzzard, 2 Yellow Hammers & 1 Whitethroat.
Drove onto Weirwood Reservoir and first visited the Dam area and then onto the Western end and looked out from the hide. 4 Common Terns, 20 Swifts, fair numbers of Swallows & House Martins, 1 Whitethroat and heard a Cuckoo.
