29th November, 2010 Lewes Levels

Went to Lewes Levels with Barry and saw 2 Bearded Tits feeding on the reeds but unfortunately they were straight into the sun which made photography very difficult. Also 2 Buzzards, 20 Reed Buntings & 10 Common Snipe,

28th November,2010 The Burgh & West Dean Woods

First visited The Burgh with Doreen, David & Barry, and walked the normal circuit, we then went onto West Dean Woods but no sign of any Hawfinches. The following are the combined totals of what we saw.:

Common Buzzard 8
Red Kite 3 (West Dean woods)
Common Partridge approx 40 in various conveys (The Burgh)
Red Legged Partridge 5
Marsh Tit 1
Long Tailed Tit 8
Yellow Hammers 3
Corn Bunting 1
Raven 3

27th November, 2010 Pett Level & Castle Water

First visited Pett Level with David & Barry and met up with Tony & Mike. No sign of the Grey Phalarope so after a short period moved onto Castle Water, visited the viewing platform , then walked to the hide and back. Drove back to Pett Level before leaving for home, highlights:

Red Throated Diver 2
Bittern 1 (Castle Water)
Brent Goose 1
Pintail 5 (including 1 drake leucistic bird)
Good numbers of Teal, Wigeon, Gadwall & Shovelers
Goldeneye 1
Velvet Scoter party of 20+ off Pett Level
Marsh Harrier 5 (2 Pett Levels & 3 Castle Water).
Peregrine 1
Water Rail 1 (Castle Water)

6th November,2010. Beddingham

On our early morning drive to Beachy, we had a Merlin fly over the roundabout at Beddingham on the A27.

1st November, 2010. Near Offham

On our journey to Beachy early this morning, we had a single Woodcock fly twice over the road near the road junction to Offham.
We also checked the Newhaven Ouse project but no sign of any Bearded Tits, but 1 Water Rail was calling.
